Overcome cognitive biases for better decision-making

Instructions

  1. Educate yourself on different biases.
Start by exploring resources like the "list of cognitive biases" on Wikipedia. Understanding the range of cognitive biases helps you recognize them in your own thinking.
  2. Reflect on your decision-making process.
After making a decision, think about the information you relied on. Did you seek out diverse viewpoints, or did you only look for information that supported what you already believed?
  3. Be objective when making a decision.
When faced with a decision, ask yourself, "Am I being swayed by my personal feelings, or am I considering all the facts?" This will help you make better decisions than when you're just purely relying on your emotions.
  4. Seek out diverse perspectives.
Aside from seeking facts, try to also actively engage with viewpoints that differ from your own when making a decision. This can help counteract your innate biases.
