Examine your past and present financial performance

Instructions

  1. Determine how much money you have made throughout your life.
Comb through past tax returns, old bank books, or bank statements. If you live in the United States, you can contact the Social Security Administration for a statement of your earnings.
  2. Calculate your net worth.
Create a balance sheet and list your liquid assets, fixed assets, and liabilities. Subtract the liabilities from the total value of your assets to find your net worth.
  3. Keep a positive attitude.
Digging up our financial past can lead to feelings of shame or guilt. Combat these feelings with a positive mantra, like “No shame! No blame!”
