Be viewed as confident and trustworthy by using body language.

By leveraging confidence and trustworthy body language, you’re already establishing yourself as a winner and someone worth knowing. People will be more at ease and impressed when meeting you, and thus this ease will also affect you. It’s easier to talk with people who appear friendly than those who do not.

Instructions

  1. Take your hands out of your pockets!
Showing your hands signals subconsciously that you’re not a threat, as in the caveman days, hiding your hands or having a weapon could mean you have intentions of harm. Make sure to show your hands and use appropriate hand gestures.

  2. Take up room with the “Power Pose.”
Have your legs spread slightly apart and hands evident, with chest up and a straight posture. This pose subconsciously projects confidence to others and makes it seem like you’re a winner.

  3. Make eye contact 60–70% of the time.
Making eye contact and holding eye contact go a long way in projecting trust by producing oxytocin (the love hormone) in your audience. Those who hold less eye contact are seen as anxious or less trustworthy.
