Develop emotional control.

The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have. This is because you won’t have the time to get bogged down in your emotional difficulties. As you let go of nervous excitement and discipline your physical reactions, you will gain more emotional control and feel inner peace.

Instructions

  1. Reduce the tempo of your life.
You can do this by drawing upon the peace and quietness the physical world offers. Go for a walk in the park and listen to Nature, to the sounds of the birds and the wind against the trees.

  2. Let go of nervous excitement by practising serenity at least once a day.
During the busiest part of your day, stop what you are doing for 10-15 minutes and think of peaceful thoughts, such as a misty valley, or the moonlit streams.

  3. Discipline your physical reactions.
The next time you feel a strong emotion, such as anger, take note of your physical reactions. For example, do you clench your fists or tense your shoulders? Then, make a conscious effort to discipline those reactions. So unclench your fists and relax your shoulders. This alone will cause the emotion to dissipate.
