    Teenagers perceive that their parents have an interest in what they’re doing, as opposed to a preoccupation about whether they will get into college.

  3. Choice.
    Teenagers feel as if they have options.

  4. Commitment.
    They have the opportunity to be involved in anything they find interesting.

  5. Challenge.
    Parents provide increasingly complex opportunities for action.
