To make a difficult habit more attractive, associate it with positive feelings.

To make difficult tasks more attractive, you can associate them with positive feelings.

Instructions

  1. Rephrase the habit from, “I have to do it,” to “I get to do it.”
Just rephrasing the sentence will change the way we think about the habit. If we don’t really like to wake up early, we can say, “I get to wake up early,” and our mind will start justifying why we actually like waking up early.

  2. Associate habits with positive feelings.
For example, if you like to pet dogs, you can create a ritual to complete just before. Over time, this ritual will make you feel positive. For example, take three deep breaths, smile, pet the dog, and repeat. After enough repetitions, when you take three deep breaths and smile, you will start feeling happy.
